A bit about me…
I have worked in IT for over 20 years, including consultancy, systems management, support, programming and teaching. My experience includes major rollout and change projects for blue chip companies, IT management for a large law firm, systems integration to support large mergers and now running my own consultancy and training company for the last eight years.
I help clients to use IT more effectively, improve efficiency, and make better decisions by turning their business data into meaningful information. Over the last few years I have been increasingly focussed in helping companies to customise Microsoft Dynamics CRM to manage their business processes and help them gain valuable insight into their customer relationships, sales forecast and service performance.
Why CRM “guru”?
There are various definitions of the term”guru”. The common themes are that a guru should be a teacher, one who imparts wisdom and knowledge to others, or in some cases a leader as well. One possible etymology is that a guru is “one who dispels the darkness of ignorance”. Through the articles in this blog I certainly hope to use the experiences I have gained as a Dynamics CRM consultant and trainer to enlighten others, and to shed some light on features available and best practices of using the software to get the most out of it.
I am certainly not using the term “guru” to claim that I am the greatest expert on the subject (that is for others to judge), but that I intend to use my knowledge to help others, just as I have learned so much from those who have done things before me.
What else do I do apart from CRM?
My technical background is in designing, building and supporting computer systems for businesses in order to help them get more out of their technology investments. This includes server and desktop operating systems, networks and applications, so I have a broad background in related technologies although I now focus more narrowly on CRM as a specialism. I also write and deliver bespoke training courses as well as Microsoft Official Courseware as a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and Microsoft Office Master Instructor. I have a bunch of technical qualifications including an MCSA:Messaging (Windows / Exchange Server 2003), and various MS Technology Specialist certifications in Dynamics CRM 4 and 2011.
